Three White Sunflowers

I poured the blue watercolor on a full sheet of paper and then some Quin gold.  After tilting the paper so the paint would form it's own designs, I had a white of the paper diaganally in the middle of the paper.  So I added the flowers and some collage.  I also wiped out some line to repeat the blue runs of the watercolor paint.

Red Hot Hot

I do not do many abstracts.  But I enjoy the results when I do.  Several of my friends and I took a one day class from Sue Allen at the Florida Watercolor Convention.  So I came home and painted two paintings.  It is mostly done in watercolor and painted tissue paper and rice paper attached.  Most of the white is the white of the paper, but some white gouache was added too.

Beach Sand

Back from the Florida Watercolor Convention.  I always pick up a trick or two.  This is an example of rocks on the sand.  Masking fluid is randomly applied on the foreground as little round rocks.  The sand is painted with yellow, red and blue.  After the shine of the wet watercolor leaves, I sprinkled it with sea salt.  Then the paper is completely dried, the masking fluid is rubbed off and shadows of the rocks are painted on.

Friday Paint Out

I sat under the bridge at Fort Myers Beach in the shade.  It is a two hour painting.  I always do a small value sketch before I start.  That way everyting is positioned right.

Wednesday Paint Out

I usually don't paint out in September.  Too hot.  I arrived at 8:30 AM and painted until 11.  Finding shade was difficult.  The sun found me where ever I stood so I had to keep moving.  But it is fun to be out.  You can see the variation in colors,

Big Blue Heron

I painted the Blue Heron last May.  I added a more colorful background to it.  What a difference that made. The yellow is the compliment of the purple blue of the bird.

Walk

This has been a fun painting to do.  It is just a happy subject.  I used for my reference a photo from one of San Lois Obispo Pacific beaches.  The cat was my addition.
