Saugus Monument Batik

I grew up in Saugus, MA.  In the middle of the square is a rotary with a monument in the middle.  I painted this so the new Saugus Art Association can use it as a fund raiser.

Morros

I just returned from a fun trip to the West Coast.  Every time I travel, I bring my paints.  But there always is so much to see and do that I seldom do any painting.  This is a painting done on my brother Joe & Lisa's balcony.  You look out and see the Morrows.  They are beautiful.  They are golden where the grass has turned, and green where the bushes grow.  I added some poppies that were not there.  I will do it over and make the poppies yellow orange in color.

Blue Heron with Lilies

My art building is open Wednesday & Thursdays in the summer.  We get quite a lot of artists painting there.  I painted this batik there, put on the wax, mixed a real dark color and painted it on after I crinkled the waxed painting.  They even had a iron so I ironed off the wax.  It looked terrible.  The dark was too dark.  I took it home and got out my acrylics.  This is the results.

Bob

This is Karen & Pat's newest cat, Bob.  He loves Karen's quilts.  Last Christmas when we snapped a photo of him decorated for the holidays, I knew it was a painting made for the batik technique.
