Fruit

Penny Fox & I set up a fruit still life at the art center.  It is fun painting from the real thing.  You see colors that you don't see in a photo.

Bowditch Beach

This painting was started at one of the last FMBAA paintouts at Bowditch.  In the shade of a bush at the end of a path, I took my time painting the beachgrass.  When I got home I added a couple of figures.  I have been checking it out since May.  I bought myself two watercolor books for my birthday.  They are both about putting people in paintings.  So today I did just that.

Beach

This started as only a painting of sky, sea and beach.  Then after staring at it a few days, I decided it needed some figures.  I had done a watercolor quickly from a small photo years ago.  Perfect addition to my beach.

Apple Blossoms

This batik was done in many wax applications to save the white of the flower.  Between the application, I would paint a very light coat of pink, yellow, or blue,

Hungry Giraffe

Batik gives the background character.  And the giraffe has character of his own.

Batik Parrot in Red

Back to painting batiks.  It is a long process to complete a batik painting.  But it is just fun.

Shell Point Painting

I went with a local plein aire group to paint at Shell Point.  With the warm weather I just find some shade and paint what is in front of me.  I was next to the river that had mangroves growing along it.  I love the patterns the stems make underneath the foliage.  I was painting with watercolor so I painted around the bird.  While I was painting I was video taped.  They will use the tape for the residents of the retirement community.
