Michele Buelow posed for us today. Lina added the head band and Monique added the lights for highlights. It was a fun day. I used acrylic instead of watercolor. The canvas resisted my paints. Maybe it was dirty. Also I wished I had a bigger canvas.

Oranges with Texture
I started with a textured board. One I had used left over acrylic paint from another time. More acrylic molding paste was applied where the oranges were to be painted.

Acrylic Oranges with Knife
Painted with a knife. This is the first orange painting I completed. I should have painted them in a different order. The black and white and three values should have been first.

Acrylic 9 Oranges
Homework this week was to paint six different techniques of the same subject. I took a photo of three oranges. Four of the paintings are on one canvas. Top left the oranges are painted with three values. Top right they are painted with scumbling technique. Bottom left the oranges are painted in the impressionist manner. Bottom right they are painted with different values of black.

Scott
This portrait was done in the college class. Scott was hired to pose for us. Professor Schwartz came around as we painted and told us what we were doing wrong. Not enough color in the face and the eyes were too small. I was not use to being criticized.

Louise
Every Tuesday a group of us at the art league paint a portrait. We find one of the members or a friend to model for us. We only paint two hours. This is today's portrait.

Acrylic 8 Step Falls
Impressionist style. All those dots. It was very time consuming but fun. Step Falls is in Sunday River Maine. This is my third painting painted from that trip. The other two were in watercolor.

Acrylic 6 Seagrape Berries
More homework. I used as my subject a small section of an old painting that was painted in watercolor. The painting is long sold but I have a photo of just about every painting that I finished in the last fifteen years. I like the composition and the dance of color.
