Roses in Blue Vase
This was just for fun. Roses are tricky to paint. You want all those layers of petals but not too detailed. I painted it with a brush but maybe I will do it over and use a knife.

Mound House with Visitors
This painting was painted during our Wednesday paintout. I was not happy with it. It was just too green. So I put it in the tub and soaked it in water. That way I could scrub out the green. Then I cropped it to make a smaller painting. Looks good.

World of Fashion
This is the second painting I painted since the last posting. The first one was a failure. I put it away until I get out my gesso to paint over it. This painting is fun and is a success. It was designed for the Big Arts show, "World of Fashion" Do you recognize anybody?

Mattapoisett Water
Mary O'Keefe gives me a hard time about the color of ocean. It is turquoise color here in Florida. When I visited her last month in Mattapoisett, she had me walk down the end of her street and observe the color of Northern water. This is what I saw.

Another Time Square
I have painted lots of variations of Time Square. Time Square is named for the clock standing there in the middle. There is a lot of places to visit on Fort Myers Beach, but this is the most popular because it just has everything. Places to shop, places to eat, a beach to sun, and a pier to fish off of.

Rocks
This was a paint-a-long with a video by Karlyn Holman. The paper is wet on both sides and then you paint a circle of yellow, then red, and then blue. The paper is then tipped back & forth & up & down until the color is soft. There is a lot of spattering to make the trees. Joanne Dermony & I painted together for a painting lesson.

Two Iris
A fun new technique using Tempera Paint and Black Liquid Oriental Ink. After painting with the tempera paint leaving the edges of the flower without any paint, you completely cover everything with the ink. Let it dry and put it under the faucet and rinse it all off.

Morros
I just returned from a fun trip to the West Coast. Every time I travel, I bring my paints. But there always is so much to see and do that I seldom do any painting. This is a painting done on my brother Joe & Lisa's balcony. You look out and see the Morrows. They are beautiful. They are golden where the grass has turned, and green where the bushes grow. I added some poppies that were not there. I will do it over and make the poppies yellow orange in color.

Blue Heron with Lilies
My art building is open Wednesday & Thursdays in the summer. We get quite a lot of artists painting there. I painted this batik there, put on the wax, mixed a real dark color and painted it on after I crinkled the waxed painting. They even had a iron so I ironed off the wax. It looked terrible. The dark was too dark. I took it home and got out my acrylics. This is the results.

Batik Daisy
Another batik. It is fun to do two at once. I try to find a subject with a white accent and daisies are perfect. I kept the color of final application light on this painting, so the batik look is subtle.

Batik Bamboo Trees
I am back playing with batik painting. It is time consuming, but relaxing. There is always a surprise at the end. When the wax is crinkled and the dark paint applied, you just don't know what the results will be. In this painting, it looks like foliage in the background.

This painting was created by pouring watercolor paint. After the paper is stretched and stapled to a board, masking fluid is applied to wherever light hits the subject. Then you pour the premixed primary colors, beginning with yellow.

Egret on Beach
I am getting ready for Santini Art Bazaar. It will be Sunday, March 4th. It is lots of work, matting, framing, and labeling the artwork. The FMBAA Scholarship Fund will get 20% of all the art that is sold. I don't end up with much profit, but it is fun. This is one of the painting that will be for sale.

I just won Honorable Mention in the Art Council of Southwest Florida Spring Show 2012 for the painting Merry-Go-Round. I painted it more than five years ago. Most shows the paintings have to be painted in the last three years but there was no restriction for this show

Lady Bugs
The Studio 2 hanging is done. Nancy Randall's husband Terry helped me hang. It is a big job. But it looks nice. It was fun to hear the new artist's comments on the paintings. Today I am helping rearrange the paintings at the Real Estate Office for our big show tomorrow.
This painting is another batik that I finished for the show.

Kathryn
This Sunday is our Art on the Boulevard Show. It takes a lot of time to prepare for it. But I have been painting. Yesterday was portrait day. The model sits for four 20 minute sessions. The first session, I draw with a pencil. The next session, I paint the face with watercolor and put some color in the hair. I have all the colors in puddles on my palette. I leave the side that the light hits without color but I soften the edge. Next, I paint the background and the clothes. The final session, I fine touch the eyes, mouth, nose and hair.

Umbrellas
This painting was started at Bonita Beach on Monday. It was cold and windy so we stayed only an hour. Yesterday we painted at Times Square at Fort Myers Beach. It was a beautiful day. I took the trolley from the art association so I wouldn't have to pay the parking fees. I carried my art supplies in my back pack. I sat in the shade at a picnic beach and finished the painting.
